I am a counsellor in training with a deep passion for supporting others on their healing journey.
I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree at Yorkville University where I am deepening the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to support others in working through life’s challenges.
I believe that you are the expert on your life and have all that you need to meet your therapeutic goals. I aim to create a nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and understood.
We will collaborate to find healthier behaviour patterns and outcomes in order for you to reconnect with your sense of self and find meaning and purpose.
Q & A with Claudia
What made you decide to choose your current profession?
“I have always been drawn to helping people navigate their challenges. There is something meaningful and humbling about walking with others on their journey to find healing and growth. I love seeing people grow and believe in themselves. We are more resilient than we give ourselves credit for and helping others to tap into their resilience is very rewarding.”
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions about mental health?
“One of the biggest misconceptions about mental health is that people who are dealing with mental health are weak or broken. Struggling with mental health means that we are human and simply dealing with issues that are challenging. It takes great strength to reach out for support when life becomes overwhelming.”
What do you want your clients to know about you and what it will be like working with you?
“I meet clients where they are at and provide them a therapeutic environment where they are valued and respected.”
What do you love most about the work that you do?
“I love learning from my clients. I love hearing their stories and I’m grateful that they allow me to be present on their path to healing.”
What is your biggest accomplishment to date?
“I immigrated to Canada in 2011 with three young children after a significant life transition. I started over "from scratch," enrolling in Graduate school full-time with very little support. I shifted my career path and that was a huge leap.”
