ADHD Counselling
Neurodiversity is the way we describe differences in how some people’s brains work.
If someone is neurodiverse it means they may have unique experiences and feelings related to their brain differences. At everwell we have a neurodiversity-informed ADHD Counselling practice. We recognize that neurodiversity comes with both strengths and challenges. We want to create space to celebrate those strengths, and also to support clients in ways that build a more comfortable and fully functioning life.
What is neurodiversity? Do I need a diagnosis?
Individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), those on the Autism Spectrum (ASD), and others who experience brain differences may identify as neurodiverse. But the term neurodiversity does not require a diagnosis of any kind. Some people may have a diagnosis from childhood, some people may have a later-in-life diagnosis, and some people may suspect or be seeking a diagnosis. While we don’t provide diagnosis or assessment at everwell, we can support clients at any stage of their journey with psychotherapy and counselling.

The importance of support
Research shows that neurodivergence, like ADHD, ASD, etc. can often occur with other mental health concerns, such as anxiety or substance misuse. People with neurodiversity are also statistically more likely to have poor health outcomes, such as type 2 diabetes or issues with heart health. Research also shows that stronger mental health can protect against some of these outcomes.
