Fiorella Lubertacci
Registered Social Worker
I have been a Registered Social Worker working in healthcare for almost 20 years. I have always been, and continue to be, the friend and family member who goes to great lengths to support others, so naturally a career in therapy made sense for me.
In working with me, I will support you in your journey to optimum health, which means allowing yourself to nurture your mental health. Learning to be compassionate with yourself, as you likely are with others, is one of the many focuses I take with clients in therapy. Giving yourself permission to take care of yourself is not selfish; it is vital to good health and happiness. It is helpful to remember that taking care of yourself allows you to help care for others.
I am a busy working mother and I understand the struggle of balancing the many aspects of life. I find that carving out some personal time for self-care can really go a long way in finding that balance. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family and friends and also going for walks with our sweet Australian Labradoodle, Cooper.
Q & A with Fiorella
What made you decide to choose your role as a therapist?
“ I have always been the friend who can be counted on to listen and support others. In my own life, I have watched people close to me struggle with mental health issues and I see the value in helping people live their best lives. ”
What do you want your potential clients to know about you and what it will be like working with you?
“ I want clients to feel safe to share their thoughts and emotions and know that sometimes it helps to just talk. I want clients to know that I am willing to walk with them in their journey to optimum mental health and that together we can find solutions to help them live their best lives. ”
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions about mental health?
“ That you have to wait until you are in a crisis to seek help. Supporting your mental health is an ongiong process, which can include everday self-care activities and seeking extra support when needed. ”
What do you like most about what you do?
“ I find it an honour to listen to, and to be trusted with, people's life stories. I find great joy in helping others to learn to be self-compassionate and kind to themselves. ”
Where is your favourite place to find inspiration?
“ Inspiration, beauty and creativity can be found anywhere. There is beauty and inspiration outside in nature, in the forest or by the ocean. ”
What is your biggest achievement to date - personal or professional?
“ I am very proud of my family and friend group, and being kind and compassionate to those in my life.”
What's your favourite thing to do on your off time?
" I enjoy being creative, painting, and getting lost in a good book. I enjoy spending time with my family and my friends and travelling when I can. I love the ocean, the forest and the mountains. I especially love family time at the lake. ”
