Leah Klein

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hi! I've been a deep thinker and feeler all my life. I have a background in visual arts and working in theatre, film, & television. I became a therapist to because of how impactful therapy was for me at difficult points in my life. Emotional connection is a powerful thing. Let's work together to explore your inner world and find ways to increase joy in your life.

I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for all sorts of individuals who are looking to be supported while navigating difficult times, emotions, relationships, and thoughts. I practice from trauma-informed, gender-affirming and neurodivergent-affirming perspectives.

Through individual therapy, we can address your unique challenges and work towards resilience, healing and growth. I offer skills and activities that can contribute to inner-knowing, self-awareness, and understanding of yourself and others. I think this sense of self-knowing is a kind of wisdom that brings about resilience and change.

I have a special interest in using creative approaches in therapy including story telling, crafts, expressive mark making, writing, game design, and music. Your whole self is welcome.

Q & A with Leah

What made you decide to choose your role as a therapist?

“Therapy brought me so much self-awareness and understanding, it made a huge impact on my life and I wanted to be part of helping others in the same ways.”

What do you think are the biggest misconceptions about mental health?

“That a mental health diagnosis is a label that is tied to your identity, and that labels can't change.”

What do you like most about what you do?

“The wonderful clients I get to work with make this job so special. I am always grateful when someone entrusts me with their personal thoughts and feelings.”

What would you like a client to say about working with you?

“I do my best to read you and anticipate your needs, but I also ask questions to get a better idea of what you are looking for. I am not a mind-reader, but I try!”

What do you value most in a client?

“Coming to therapy is a very big step for many people. I appreciate that seeing a therapist can bring up feelings of anxiety, sadness, fear, hope, etc. I am grateful for the clients who show up because that is often the hardest part of starting therapy.”

What does ‘wellness’ mean to you?

“Wellness is more of a direction than a state of being. We can work towards wellness in response to feeling unwell, but we can also be moving in the direction of wellness even if we are generally satisfied in life. I also think wellness also has to do with finding a balance in sustaining a life that brings us peace and happiness. So much in this world is out of our control, but how we respond to the chaos may be a measure of our wellness. I am interested, though, in your definition of ‘wellness’.”

What is your biggest achievement to date?

“Honestly, healing from a broken ankle was a pretty big achievement. My body worked hard to heal and get my mobility back. It took physiotherapy and around 9 months but I made it back to the soccer field.”
