When I work with a client, I show up fully—listening deeply, engaging actively, and taking the time to understand the full context of their experience. Together, we explore what feels most important to you, with thoughtful assessment to ensure key areas are acknowledged, valued, and supported.
I draw from client-centered, emotion-focused, CBT, ACT, and DBT approaches to support neurodiverse youth and adults navigating life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and challenges related to executive functioning. I also have experience supporting individuals managing ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and depression, with a focus on reducing the power of intrusive thoughts and uncomfortable urges by building distress tolerance, flexibility, and choice in how clients respond. Lastly, I have extensive experience working with relationship and social dynamics, including within polyamorous and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
Our work is grounded in creating safety, clear boundaries, and space for personal growth. I believe clients already carry insight, values, and goals within themselves. My role is not to direct or “fix,” but to help you clarify what matters, strengthen your skills, and move forward in ways that feel authentic and sustainable.
Q & A with Sarah
What made you decide to choose your current profession?
“It may seem like a cliche answer, but I have always had a passion for helping people. As a kid I was always a caretaker, ensuring everyone else's needs were met before my own. I have since learned how to maintain that balance with my own needs vs someone else’s, a key aspect I want to bring with me as a psychotherapist.”
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions about mental health?
“That there is something wrong with people, that there is a problem that needs fixing; its more so we all have different brain chemistry and ways of thinking, feeling and acting. Learning how to live with the conditions we are in (a core ACT principle) helps us to not only survive but to live the best version of ourselves, through happiness and support.”
What do you want your clients to know about you and what it will be like working with you?
“I want clients to know that my space is always safe and fun is always prioritized. I utilize humour often to soften the blow, but also just enjoy my session with my client; get to know each other on a professional yet comforting level. I want clients to feel like its not an obligation to have therapy with me, but something enjoyable and valuable. Not to say there won’t be some bad days where everything is clear skies and happiness; but acknowledging that our shared space is a place to feel heard, valued and cared for is what should be known.”
What do you love most about the work that you do?
“The feeling I get at the end of the day, when I truly feel I have helped someone, whether they have expressed it to me or its a shared feeling in session. Knowing I have helped someone to improve themselves, even in small ways is the most rewarding aspect.”
What is your biggest accomplishment to date?
“My biggest achievement to date is my personal progress and growth. This has included learning to set boundaries and build safe, authentic, and long-lasting friendships. I have learned how I respond best to the world, including my sensory needs and communication patterns. This growth has helped shape where I am today, both personally and professionally.”
